Lowton High School was one step ahead of most schools and had their ducks all lined up in terms of funding available. They needed several quotes of which was handled by an independant consultancy firm on behalf of Wigan Council.
As far as lighting upgrades go for schools this was a fairly large scheme totalling £140,000. The upgrade meant that their lighting operational costs dropped by 60% down to £26,000 per annum but the headline figure was the saving of £290,000 over the next decade without considering raising energy prices or inflation.
The savings of £3,000 per month meant that the entire project had a 46 month return on investment.
